Happy Birthday Atlas!
My newest baby is THREE today! We’ve had him for almost two full years!
Atlas was pulled from a shelter in June 2021 with his sister and placed in a rescue. His sister was adopted pretty early, but it seemed that there wasn’t much love for our boy. The rescue told me that he was placed in a couple of homes, but they only had him there for a night or two before sending him back with one excuse or another.
I saw him posted online, and May was shortly after we lost our girl. Bear needed another dog, and honestly, my house felt empty without a second baby running around. After discussing things with James and with the rescue, in May 2022 we went to get Atlas (formerly named Clyde).
He took his time getting used to being in a real home. Who could blame him? Everyone else sent him back! Not us. We worked with him. Took the time to teach him and show him that we weren’t sending him back.
Now my littlest boy is three and thriving! He loves playing with Bear. He loves to lay on James’s arm while he’s gaming. He’s a huge snuggle bug. He’s still learning to jump into the car, but can jump out easily. He quickly picked up bedtime treats. He barks a lot. At everything. Small sounds, James walking in the door, etc. But he’s still learning.
I was worried he and Bear wouldn’t get along, but they are literally best buds now. Atlas will rest his head on Bear and nap. He gets super excited to have a new chew bone to place with.
I am so glad that we took a chance on him and that he is comfortable here now. He’s completed our family.
