Life,  Whispers of Everything

We did something…

As many of you know our girl Lexi passed in April. It was a hard decision for us to let her go, but we knew it was time.

Our house has felt a little light since she passed. Bear especially was craving a TON more attention than normal. He LOVES to be outside, but after she passed, he would only stay out long enough to potty. So we started thinking about what to do next.

We knew we wanted another dog, but it was finding one that would work with Bear (he’s very playful, and hyper).

So one day, this boy, Clyde was brought to my attention. Clyde came from a shelter to a rescue. The rescue has had him for a year. They tried to find placement for him, but he kept getting returned.
One person returned him to the rescue claiming he has food aggression. He does not. He gets a little excited with food down (especially in the first few days), but then realized that the food isn’t going anywhere and he can eat in peace.
Another person returned him because they said their dog didn’t want another dog in the family.
When we put in the application we were the ONLY application for him.

So we decided to try to give this boy a forever home. We drove up with Bear to meet up with Clyde and the rescue (about an hour or so drive).

They seemed okay on leashes around each other, but I know Bear. He likes to be free to run and play and he isn’t a fan of his harness on him. So we agreed to give it a shot.

Clyde (now Atlas because he NEVER came when we called him Clyde), is doing well. He and Bear get along. He loves attention and really likes the snuggle. He has tested my patience a few times (but so does Bear). He’s learning to sit, learning when treat time is. He knows he doesn’t have to eat all his food in three seconds.

He’s already been with us longer than he has ANY other placement and that’s because we are giving him a chance. Right now he’s sleeping peacefully on the floor next to my desk, while Bear sleeps peacefully under my desk. Yep. I’m not moving for a while.
