Recipe: Beltane Alter Bread
This bread is amazing, and I make it all year long whenever the mood strikes me. It’s great to have in the morning with some honey or jam.
I won’t make you scroll through a ton of adds and rambling to get to the recipe. That’s not my style, and it’s annoying. I also made sure in the directions I added the amounts so you don’t have to keep going back to the ingredients list to find the measurements.
Enjoy!
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30-35 minutes
Servings: Depends on how large your slices are. I can usually get about 10 slices out of the bread.
Ingredients:
2 cups of Flour
2 tablespoons of Sugar
1 teaspoon of Salt
1 tablespoon of Baking Powder
1/4 cup of Vegetable Oil
3/4 cup of Milk
1 Egg
1 tablespoon of honey
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375.
2. In a large bowl, combine the flour (2 cups), sugar (2 tbsp), salt (1 tsp), and baking powder (1 tbsp).
3. In a separate bowl, mix the vegetable oil (1/4 cup), milk (3/4 cup), 1 egg, and honey (1 tbsp).
4. Gradually add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for a few minutes. I add a little more flour if the dough is too moist.
6. Then shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a greased baking sheet. (Note: I usually put foil on a baking sheet and brush with oil).
7. Cut an X into the top of the loaf with a knife.
8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
9. Allow the bread to cool before serving.
