It’s a sign!

As many of you know I’ve been a Crazy Ink author since July, 2018 with my first book being published that November. Do you know the story that goes along with it?

Recently another author posted their experience with publishing and it really made me think of my own. For the longest time I was set on self-publishing. Then at one point I thought I would submit to a publishing company that a friend was through. Unfortunately that company just proved to not be a good fit for me so I opted to not submit to them.
That left me still heading down the self-publishing route. Not a bad road to be on.

May 2018 rolls around. A friend of mine tells me about this great publishing company she’s with. So she tells me about it and shares their pages with me. After about five minutes, I decided I was going to submit to them. Couldn’t explain it, I just felt like it was the perfect place.

So I went through Cursed Legacy one more time and submitted in the beginning of July.

Here’s where you may need some tissues.

In the beginning of July (around the time I submitted my book), I met my dad’s side of the family for the first time. I had all of these cousins from his side that I didn’t know! And of course, it was really cool telling them I just submitted a book to a publishing company!

Also around that time I went to visit my grandmother. I looked up to my grandmother more than any other woman in my life. She was this badass lady. She worked at the same place for what seemed like her entire life! She was a AMAZING cook and baker (she taught me much of what I know).

July 7th has always been one of those days. It was my dad’s birthday. My dad was my hero. Like one trillion percent my hero. He was Superman to me. He could do everything.

So knowing that this day was fast approaching, I was not really too excited.
And then in the middle of the night on July 6th I got a call that broke my heart. My badass grandmother was in the hospital and not expected to make it. Here I was, in Florida over a thousand miles away and no possible way to make it there.

My sister sent me a message just before seven in the morning on the 7th and told me she was gone. My heart broke even more.

Then just before ten in the morning I received an email. It was from Erin at Crazy Ink telling me my manuscript was accepted and would be published.

WHAT? Here I am, heart broken that my grandmother passed away on my dad’s birthday and my first manuscript was accepted by a publisher!

It’s a sign. I’m telling you it’s a sign. Two of my most favorite people in the world connected on this day, and now my biggest passion in life is connected to it. I fully believe it was their way of telling me things would be okay and that I was going to do great things. If you read Cursed Legacy you’ll see that I dedicated it to my grandmother.

So July 7th is one of those bitter sweet days for me. While I’m sad about my grandmother and father, I can’t help but smile because that day started my journey with Crazy Ink.

It’s been a hell of a ride so far and it’s most definitely not over. Crazy Ink is my home.

The point of this post is that, this is how I got to where I am today. This is just another reason why Crazy Ink means so much to me.

So if you are a reader and want some new books, go check out Crazy Ink’s website.
